Arlene M. Maurer RN, 97, of Elysburg passed away early Friday morning April 12, 2024 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Born in Tharptown (Coal Township) on December 27, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Kathryn (Mutchler) and Lloyd Startzel.

Arlene was of the Christian faith and was a member of Elysburg Alliance Church.

Arlene was the spouse of the late Ralph D. Maurer who passed away in 2011.

She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1944 and from Temple School of Nursing in 1947.  Arlene worked as a Registered Nurse for the Sunbury Hospital and also did private duty during her career. 

She enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, boating, water skiing, and traveling.  She was also a devoted grandmother and caregiver.  Arlene was a member of the Silver Sneakers program.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by; sister Jean Miller; son-in-law Daniel Bamford; grandson Jason Maurer.

Arlene is survived by; sister Jane Coutts, Numidia; daughter Terrie Bamford, Paxinos; son Gary Maurer (Lucinda), Erie; son Keith Maurer (Jody), State College; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday April 16th from 9:00–11:00 am at Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave, Elysburg PA 17824.  Services will be held on Tuesday April 16th at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow services at Northumberland Memorial Park.
