Condolence From: Nicholas Stancavage
Condolence: I don’t identify with the Welsh part of my blood, but that was all Inky identified with. She would tell me “our family is strong because we’re Welshman.” I don’t know about me, but no one could doubt inky was strong. She told me about when she was younger, how she was a fighter and how she would always protect her family. She told me the stories about the times she almost died, or that she thought she was going to. Once, on her way to work she was flung from a vehicle in a car accident and covered for dead. But she was strong, and she made it through. She told me about how she beat cancer, even though she lost a breast. I saw her put up with my antics as a child, where I’d try to scare her. And I remember she would prank me back. She was my best friend as a kid. And she would do anything for me, just like she would do anything for you. In her later years she broke her ribs, and that was when I first thought she was fragile. But that was almost 5 years ago, she persisted. Then she broke her hip, and I cried on the way to the hospital with my mom Tammy, cause we both thought this was the last time we’d see her. That was December of ‘14. She was even strong enough to joke about it while laying in her hospital bed. “What a s****y welcome home gift for you Nick,? eh?” she said. Inky went through a fair portion of her life with a quarter of a heart the doctors said. I know she’s welsh, cause she made it through that too. And with all the love she has shown me, not only personally, but with how she treated others, I know that quarter heart was strong. I don’t know if I’m strong, but when I don’t think I can make it through something, Inky’s memory will always be with me, and that will give me some strength.
