Obituary for Leonard Hoover

Leonard Hoover
Leonard Hoover, 70, of Oakland Ave. Ashland. passed away Friday, March 31st, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.
Born in Ashland, PA July 19, 1946 the son of the late John and Jean (Rockwell) Hoover. He was a resident of Ashland all of his life.
He graduated from Ashland High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army during the the Vietnam War as a demolition expert. He was a member of Zion's Reformed UCC, Ashland; American Legion Post, Ashland, Good Fellowship Club, Ashland; Washington Fire Company, Ashland. He retired from Allied Signal which became Honeywell. After his first bout with cancer, he continued to work for Tri-State Envelope for 10 more years. Len loved any outdoor activity--hunting, fishing, and camping were his favorite. He also loved his trips to the casino, car shows, and dinner and a movie. He was very devoted to his family. Anyone who knew Len seemed to love him; he left an impression on everyone.
Surviving are his wife Judith (Judy) (Edwards) Hoover. In June it would have been their 47th anniversary. Two sons: Leonard Hoover, husband of Nancy, and their children: Samantha and Maxine; Brian Hoover and his children: Lexi, Kyli, Connor, and their mother, Amy. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, many cousins, special friends, and his dog Sadie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA with the Rev. David Grant officiating. Interment in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lavelle, PA. Viewing on Tuesday evening, April 4, 2017 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home and Wednesday morning 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Len, to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Ashland American Legion, 505 Center St, Ashland, PA 17921 Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, Pa is in charge of arrangements.
